Hello and happy Friday! If you loved the Frozen Midnight Margaritas from my previous posts, then you're in for a treat. Some of you have asked if they could be as good on the rocks, and that got me thinking. Why not create a version perfect for the chilly fall weather? And so, I present to you - the Mezcal Apple Cider Margarita on the rocks.

Why mezcal, you ask? Because it brings a hint of smoke to the flavour profile, which pairs wonderfully with the crispness of apple cider. It's like a cozy campfire in a glass, just what you need as the weather turns colder. This cocktail is perfect for your upcoming Thanksgiving festivities, or simply to enjoy on a peaceful autumn evening.

If mezcal isn't your thing, don't worry. You can easily swap it out for regular tequila. Yes, that's right. You can enjoy this as a classic Tequila Apple Cider Margarita. But, what about those who prefer non-alcoholic beverages, or as we like to call them, mocktails? I've got you covered with a zero-proof version of this recipe too.

So, let's get our margarita vibes on and start mixing!

Mezcal Apple Cider Margarita Recipe

Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 oz Mezcal

  • 3/4 oz Triple Sec or Cointreau

  • 2 1/2 oz Apple cider

  • 1/4 oz agave

  • A splash of fresh squeezed orange juice

  • 1 oz lime juice

  • Cinnamon Sugar for rim

  • Cinnamon Stick for garnish

Method: In a shaker, add your mezcal, lime juice, agave, orange juice and apple cider. Shake over ice vigorously. Using a rocks glass, trace the rim of the glass with a lime slice, then dip the lime-rimmed glass into cinnamon sugar. Pour out your smokey goodness into your rocks glass. Finally, garnish with a cinnamon stick! Best enjoyed over a fall campfire. You won't want to put this down.

Zero Proof Mezcal Mocktail Apple Cider Margarita Recipe For those who prefer a non-alcoholic option, here's the mocktail version:

  • 2 oz Ritual Zero Proof Tequila (tastes just like mezcal!)

  • 2 1/2 oz Apple cider

  • 1/4 oz agave

  • 1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice

  • 1 oz lime juice

  • Cinnamon Sugar for rim

  • Cinnamon Stick for garnish

Method: Just like the mezcal version, add all the ingredients into a shaker and shake vigorously over ice. Rim your glass with lime and cinnamon sugar, then pour the mixture into the glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and enjoy! So there you have it. Two incredible margarita recipes to try this fall. Whether you prefer the smoky depth of mezcal or the traditional taste of tequila, or even if you prefer to skip the alcohol entirely, there's an option for everyone. Get mixing and enjoy these autumnal delights!

Happy Mixing!
