Thanksgiving is a time for enjoying rich, sweet, and savory flavors. However, amidst the turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie, you might find your palate craving a break. What better way to cleanse your palate than with a spicy cocktail? This recipe, a variation on the Kentucky Mule, is the perfect blend of autumn flavors and a spicy kick to surprise your taste buds. So, let's dive in and explore how to make a Spicy Pomegranate Kentucky Mule.

Why a Spicy Pomegranate Kentucky Mule? Think of it as a Moscow Mule but with a Southern twist - we use Bourbon instead of vodka. This cocktail still incorporates autumn flavors like pomegranate and ginger, but we've turned up the heat with the addition of jalapenos! The result is a refreshing and spicy drink that's perfect to enjoy after a heavy Thanksgiving meal. Plus, ginger is excellent for settling the stomach, so you'll be ready for that second round of dessert.

Before we start mixing, make sure you have all of these ingredients on hand:

Spicy Pomegranate Kentucky Mule

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 Slices of Jalapenos

  • 1 oz Lime Juice

  • 2 oz Bourbon

  • 1 1/2 oz Pomegranate Juice

  • 1 can of ginger beer

  • Dehydrated Lime wheel for garnish

  • Pomegranate seed ice cubes if you wish (or just Pomegranate seeds)

Method: Once you've gathered your ingredients, it's time to start mixing. Here's how:

  1. In a cocktail mixing glass, add your jalapenos and lime juice.

  2. With a muddler, give them a good muddle! This will release the spicy flavors of the jalapenos and blend them with the tangy lime juice.

  3. Strain the muddled liquid into a 17 oz glass. This will ensure you get the flavors without the solid parts.

  4. Add in your Bourbon and pomegranate juice.

  5. Add in your ice cubes or pomegranate seeds. The pomegranate seeds add a fun visual element and a little extra flavor.

  6. Give it a good stir to mix all the flavors together.

  7. Top with ginger beer. This gives the cocktail a bubbly texture and adds a spicy, sweet flavor.

  8. Garnish with a dehydrated lime wheel. Not only does this look great, but it also adds a bit of zesty flavor.

There you have it — a Spicy Pomegranate Kentucky Mule! It's a unique, refreshing, and spicy cocktail that's perfect for enjoying after a heavy Thanksgiving meal. So, give it a try this holiday season and add some spice to your festivities.

Cheers!
