If you're someone who enjoys a cup of coffee after dinner, this drink is just for you! Imagine wrapping up a big day of Thanksgiving festivities with the perfect nightcap. I wanted to use my apple cinnamon simple syrup again because it's incredibly tasty, and I thought it would be delicious in a boozy coffee! This would also make a fabulous drink for a Football game tailgate!

So, just like an Irish Coffee, I decided to use Bourbon instead of Jameson and incorporated the cinnamon apple simple syrup. Let's get cozy and let me walk you through the process of making this delightful Cinnamon Apple Bourbon Coffee.

Cinnamon Apple Bourbon Coffee Recipe

The first step in making this warming drink is to gather all your ingredients. Here's what you'll need: Whipped Topping:

  • 3 oz Heavy Whipping Cream

  • 1 Teaspoon simple syrup

  • 1/4 Apple Pie Spice

Bourbon Coffee:

  • Freshly brewed coffee

  • 1 1/2 oz Bourbon

  • 1 oz Apple Cinnamon simple syrup

Method: Start by making your whipped topping. In a cocktail mixing glass, add your heavy whipping cream, regular simple syrup, and apple pie spice. Using a hand frother, give it a good froth. Be careful not to over froth, as this will thicken up very quickly. Now, let's move on to the coffee part. With a cup of freshly brewed, hot coffee, add your bourbon and apple cinnamon simple syrup and give it a good stir. Top your coffee with your whipped topping and garnish with a star anise! This drink is best enjoyed as a nightcap after your Thanksgiving dinner, perhaps in lieu or paired with some apple pie.

Cinnamon Apple Simple Syrup

The magic of this drink lies in the homemade Cinnamon Apple Simple Syrup. It's easy to make and it gives the drink its unique taste. Here's how you can make it: Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup Hot water (I prefer bringing it to a boil)

  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar

  • 2 sliced Gala apples

  • Cinnamon Sticks (about 6)

Method: In a bowl, stir together the hot water and brown sugar. Keep stirring until the sugar has fully dissolved. Now, add in your cinnamon sticks and apple slices. Give it a few good stirs and then let it sit for either 30 mins or overnight in the fridge, covered. After it has sat, strain the mixture and funnel it into a mason jar or syrup dispenser. Remember to label it, so everyone knows what this magic elixir is! This flavored simple syrup usually lasts in the fridge, well-sealed for about 1-2 weeks.

Cheers to you and your delicious Cinnamon Apple Bourbon Coffee! Enjoy the warmth of this drink and the company of your loved ones. Here's to good times and great memories!
