As the autumn leaves begin to twirl in the wind and the air takes on a crisp, cool edge, there's no denying it - Spooky Season is upon us. In honor of this magical time of year, I've decided to share my memorable journey to the epicenter of all things eerie - Salem, Massachusetts. Known for its historic witch trials, Salem is the perfect destination for an adventure this Halloween season. Moreover, I also visited Boston, a city which beautifully juxtaposes historic charm with modern allure. So, if you're looking to satisfy your Halloween itch, grab your favorite pumpkin spice latte, your best pals, and let's embark on a spooky escapade!
My friends and I first planned to visit Boston for a concert, which unfortunately, got cancelled. However, we turned this setback into an opportunity by deciding to make a day trip to Salem. The train ride from Boston to Salem is super easy and quick, making it the perfect day trip if you're staying in Boston. Even though it was March and the ground was covered with snow, we managed to visit some fantastic spots that I would highly recommend for your own journey.
We first visited the Bewitched Statue in Salem, a quirky and fun monument that's perfect for photos. We paid a visit to the Gulu-Gulu Cafe in Salem, a cozy and eclectic cafe perfect for brunch or a coffee break (and they allow dogs and have a TON of doggy photos all over). Next was The Witch House in Salem. This was truly the quintessential spot to kick-start our spooky adventure. We visited the Hocus Pocus House, popularly known as Max and Danny's house from the from favorite Halloween movie. Do remember to be respectful as this is actually someone's residence!
For those of you who are into mystical and healing items, the HausWitch Home + Healing Store is a must-visit. It's a unique store filled with enchanting items that cater to all your witchy needs. But honestly, you'll want to buy so many things! I bought a mug, tote bag and candle. I also had a good chuckle with a "push it real good" Salt & Pepper sign on the door. After shopping, you may fancy a pint, the Far From The Tree Brewery is the perfect spot. With a wide range of craft beers and a cozy atmosphere, it's a great place to unwind.
