There's no better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a unique and festive cocktail in hand. And what could be more festive than a drink that looks like a gift? Enter the Ornament Gin & Tonic, a viral sensation that's not only cute but also perfect for any party or small gathering. It's an easy cocktail that uses a classic gin & tonic as its base, but with a fun and festive twist. In this blog post, I will guide you through the process of creating this delightful drink. So let's deck some halls with cocktails!

The Perfect Gin for Your Ornament First things first, you need to choose the gin that will serve as the base of your cocktail. My ultimate go-to for an easy gin & tonic is Empress Gin with its vibrant purple color. It not only adds a beautiful pop of color to your drink but also gives it a unique flavor that's perfect for the holiday season. Empress Gin also makes a Rose variant that would be even better for this cocktail. I'm planning to try it soon and will post an update with the results. Consider this my Christmas gift to gin lovers everywhere!

Ornament Gin & Tonics

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Gin (Empress) @empress1908gin

  • 1/4 teaspoon edible glitter

  • 1 oz white cranberry juice (optional)

  • Squeeze of lime

  • Tonic water

  • Plastic ornament balls (I will link to where you can purchase these on my website)

How to Make Your Ornament Gin & Tonic:

Once you have your ingredients ready, it's time to get started with the fun part - making the cocktails!

Before you fill up your glass, you should make your ornaments. In your plastic ornament ball, fill it with your gin and edible glitter, then close it up. Set that aside and fill up your highball glass with ice, lime juice, cranberry juice, and tonic water (leaving room at the top for your gin/ornament). Give your glass a good stir and set your ornament on top of your glass. It will float nicely on top of the ice.

Now it's time to serve! When you're ready to serve, shake your ornament and then pour it into your highball glass. It will float at the top, so after you get your picture (of course), be sure to stir it well otherwise the first sip will be REAL strong! To make it even more festive, garnish your drink with a sprig of thyme. Best enjoyed after a long day of Christmas shopping.
