A THANKSGIVING TREAT FOR YOUR CANINE COMPANION
Thanksgiving, a time of year when we gather with family and friends to give thanks for the blessings we have received. A time of year that is filled with a smorgasbord of delectable dishes that are sure to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. But what about our furry friends? Shouldn't they be allowed to partake in the festivities as well? Of course, they should! That's why this year, I decided to make something special for my beloved pup, Alfred - Pumpkin Puppy Popsicles!
Why Pumpkin Puppy Popsicles? Every year, I would usually get a pup cup for Alfred to enjoy. However, this time around, I wanted to try something a bit different. Alfred absolutely adores pumpkin, so why not create a dog-friendly version of a Thanksgiving staple? Hence, the idea of Pumpkin Puppy Popsicles was born.
Pumpkin Puppy Popsicles
Ingredients:
3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (It is crucial that the yogurt is plain Greek yogurt. Avoid yogurts with artificial flavors, preservatives, added sugar, or any kind of fruity yogurt with potentially harmful fruits.)
3/4 cup organic pumpkin puree
You will also need a popsicle mold for this recipe. I'll include the link to the one I used in the blog post (see below). Method: The process of making these popsicles is straightforward. First, you need to mix the yogurt and pumpkin puree together in a bowl. Once the mixture is fully integrated, pour it into your popsicle mold. Seal the mold and place it in the freezer. The popsicles should be firm and ready to serve in about an hour! Enjoy the treat with your pup!
Now your canine companions can join in the pumpkin-themed festivities with their human family! My Alfred, who weighs around 22lbs, loved this treat. However, I only gave him half a popsicle considering his size. Always remember to give your pup treats that are appropriate for their size and dietary needs. It's a fun and delicious way to make sure your dog doesn't feel left out during your Thanksgiving feast!
