As the romantic vibes of Valentine's Day approach, there's nothing like a spicy, flavorful cocktail to set the mood. This year, I've decided to take a classic gin cocktail, The Bee's Knees, and give it a Valentine's twist. I've named it "The Birds and the Bees" as a playful nod to the theme of love and romance.
What sets this cocktail apart?
The Bee's Knees is traditionally made with a honey syrup. For this special occasion, I've replaced the traditional sweetener with @mikeshothoney to create a honey syrup that carries a hint of spice. This gives the cocktail a unique, tantalizing kick that's perfect for a romantic evening. Let's get it on with the recipe, shall we?
The Birds and the Bees Cocktail
(aka the Bee's Knees with spice)
Ingredients:
2 oz Rose Gin
3/4 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz hot honey syrup (recipe below)
1 oz Hibiscus Tea *optional but I added for some extra flavor and red coloring
Gummy heart for garnish
Lavender sprig for garnish
Hot Honey Syrup:
In a saucepan, add equal parts Mike's hot honey and water. Stir over low heat until smooth consistency. It will become more of a syrup texture and less honey consistency.
Directions
Start by adding your rose gin, lemon juice, honey syrup, and hibiscus tea into a cocktail shaker. Pop in some ice and give it a good shake. Once it's well mixed, strain the concoction into a chilled Nick & Nora glass. Now, it's time to garnish! Add a gummy heart, a red bow, and a sprig of lavender to the glass. Remember, your cocktail should not only taste good but also look cute, right? This cocktail is best enjoyed sipped slowly with that special someone.
