With the holiday season in full swing, it's time to treat yourself to something special and festive. What better way to celebrate than with a merry cocktail? The holidays have a magical way of inspiring us to create drinks that are as festive and vibrant as the season itself. In this blog post, we'll be exploring a frozen cocktail that's sure to tickle your tastebuds and stir up some holiday cheer - The Drunken Candy Cane!

The Drunken Candy Cane is a delightful concoction of candy cane-infused vodka, Baileys, milk, vanilla ice cream, and peppermint simple syrup, all perfectly fused together to make a boozy candy cane drink. It's a concoction that brings together the best of the holiday flavors. And the best part? It's both delicious and incredibly easy to make.

The Drunken Candy Cane

Ingredients:

Here's what you'll need to make your own Drunken Candy Cane:

  • 1 oz Candy Cane Infused Vodka (recipe below)

  • 1 oz Baileys

  • 1/2 cup milk of your choice

  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream

  • 1/2 peppermint simple syrup (recipe below)

  • 1 1/2 cup crushed ice

  • 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum to help with frozen texture

  • For the red spiral up the glass: 1 tablespoon Agave, 1 teaspoon xanthan gum and 2 drops red food coloring

Instructions:

Ready to mix up some holiday magic? Follow these simple steps:

  1. In a cocktail mixing glass, add your vodka, Baileys, milk, ice cream, simple syrup, ice and xanthan gum.

  2. Transfer all to a blender and blend until desired texture achieved (you may need to add a little bit more ice depending on the texture).

  3. Before you pour out your frozen goodness, let's mix our red spiral lines mixture. In a very small bowl, add your agave, red food coloring and xanthan gum. Stir very well until it thickens up.

  4. Using a frother, LIGHTLY dip it into the red mixture and spiral a little by little up a tall glass creating a candy cane look.

  5. Once you have your red spiral, it's time to pour in your frozen mixture. Garnish with a candy cane (of course)!

Peppermint Simple Syrup:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup Hot water (I like to bring it to a boil)

  • 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar

  • 4-6 min candy canes

Directions: In a bowl, stir together the hot water and sugar. Continue stirring until the sugar has fully dissolved. Now, add in your candy canes. Give it a good couple of stirs and then let it sit for either 30 mins or overnight in the fridge covered. After it has sat, strain the mixture and funnel it into a mason jar or syrup dispenser. Be sure to label it so everyone knows what this magic elixir is! Flavor simple syrup usually lasts in the fridge sealed well for about 1-2 weeks.

Candy Cane Infused Vodka 🍬

- 8 ounce Mason Jar

- 6 mini candy canes

- 7oz Vodka (I used Titos)

Method:

In your mason jar, add your candy canes, then pour in your vodka, seal very well with the mason jar lid, give it a shake and store in your fridge for 5 days! The candy canes will dissolve but do still strain before you're ready to consume! You can use a cheesecloth and/or metal strainer. Sealed well, this can last up to 6 months in the fridge. Best enjoyed in a peppermint flavored espresso martini or a spiked hot chocolate!
